Legal Sandwich Tab
Sandwich Tab — Privacy Policy
Sandwich Tab keeps a shared tab between two people. To do that it stores what you put in it with Apple's iCloud, so both phones can see the same tab.
What is stored
- The name you give the app, shown to the other person on your tab.
- Your tabs: who is on each one.
- Your sandwiches: what each one was, what it cost, the day it was bought, any note you added, and who bought it for whom. Entries you strike are hidden in the app but stay in the record.
- Sandwich requests you send, and their wording.
- An identifier Apple gives the app for your iCloud account. It tells the app which person on a tab is you. It is not your Apple ID or email address, and the app never sees those.
Where it is kept
Each tab is kept in the iCloud account of the person who opened it, and shared with the one person they invite through iCloud. Nobody else can open it. Everything on a tab is stored in encrypted form, using keys kept in your iCloud account. Fisheggs Pty Ltd cannot read any of it. If you have turned on Apple's Advanced Data Protection, Apple cannot read it either. A copy of each tab you are on is also kept on your phone so it opens without a connection.
When something happens on a tab, Apple sends the other phone a notice that it has changed, without any of the tab's contents. That phone then fetches the change and writes the notification itself.
Tabs opened before version 1.0.1 were kept in a shared database that was not encrypted in this way. The app moves each of those tabs into iCloud sharing, and both phones then delete their records from the old database.
What Sandwich Tab does not do
There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone outside the tab, apart from Apple, which stores the data and delivers the notifications.
Deleting your data
Closing a tab you opened deletes it, and everything on it, from your iCloud. The other person's phone keeps a copy of how the tab stood, which they can remove. Leaving a tab someone else opened takes you off it and takes it off your phone. Deleting the app's data from your iCloud settings deletes every tab you opened.
